Oh wait a minute. It's Tuesday!?
I was interviewed for a parenting documentary today (!!) and while starting the day it seemed like a typical Monday morning. Raccoon got into the trash.....guests arriving in a few minutes and I haven't brushed my hair yet...I tried to make myself breakfast and filled the house with smoke....
You know...just a typical Monday...I mean Tuesday.
The interview went well though. We had a good conversation about why people are so stern about their parenting styles being the "best" or the "right way to do things" and why we are so judgmental of other parents if they are doing it differently than us instead of supporting every parent because they are a parent. We do a lot of things differently in our family which may be the reason they wanted to talk to us. It should be interesting!
More to come

Chances are...
Chances are, if you are reading this, you are someone important in my life.
And chances are, I do not tell you often enough how important to me you truly are,
whether you are my husband,
my family,
my friend.
Even if you are a stranger you are important too,
for I truly believe that we are
all
connected in some way.
Connected by the love that we have for one another.
Connected by the random love we just send out into the world.
I am so blessed to have so many loved ones in my life.
Each of you make me who I am.
I wish I could give
you
a BIG hug and kiss every time that I think of you, which is often.
Instead, I am probably giving that hug and kiss to my beautiful girls
knowing
that because of your connection to them,
it will make its way back to you too.
Can you feel it?

Today's Smoothie :: Blueberry Banana
(a.k.a. Why did it take me so long to think of this?!?)
Put honey, banana, and frozen blueberries in a large glass.
Top with yogurt.
Pull out your immersion blender. (ahem...genius)
Drink. Enjoy.
Celebrate that you don't have a large blender to clean.
You can thank me later.

8 Months
Dearest Emily,
You are such a sweet, sweet baby and I am honored to be your mama. You are so happy that when you smile, your eyes close completely shut. You are really crawling these days and you love to eat your sisters animal magazines from under the coffee table. You also love straws and drinking cold, cold water. You also love milk which may be why you would rather not sleep much at night. Your sweet face and delicate hands wake me in the morning to remind me that I will sleep again someday and by then, I will wish you were still a precious baby like you are today. And that is exactly what you are to me. Precious.
I love you my little bee.

Sleeping Beauty
After a long overdue brunch and hike with dear friends, our little beauty is sleeping so peacefully.
There is nothing more beautiful than a sleeping baby or child's etherial face.

Wedding Attire
Sometimes when things are too quiet, I know that she may be up to something. In lieu of a nap the other day, she (finally) discovered my jewelry chest and made dresses, necklaces and crowns for Honey Bunny. I remember reading a story from a mother who found her children writing all over each other with a permanent marker. Her advice? Go get the camera! It allows you to take a deep breath and capture a moment that you will smile about someday, if not already.

New Neighbors
We have tiny baby Juncos nesting under a fern in our front yard. I was wondering why the parents were making so much noise and knew there had to be babies somewhere nearby. Little did I know we were picnicking right next to them. They were so well camouflaged!
Today's Bouquet :: Santa Barbara Style
We first tasted this mango "flower" in Santa Barbara from a street treat vendor at Alameda Park. Just stick a wooden skewer into a mango (champagne mangoes are on sale now at Whole Foods) peel it and cut small petals, sprinkle with lime juice, enjoy!
