Our Christmas Star

Gracie made a beautiful star during a recent Waldorf inspired class and we decided today that it would be the best topper for our tree.

Solstice Salad

We enjoyed making this salad today for a child led potluck at our Nature Awareness class. The children enjoyed it as much as the adults so I thought I would share the recipe. It took us ten minutes to whip it up this morning and it was enough for a crowd. We will probably make it again while we have family visiting over the holidays.

Sosltice Salad:
2 cups quinoa (4+ cooked)
1 cup chickpeas
1 cup kindney beans
1 bunch of purple kale finely chopped
s+p
1/2 teaspoon dried dill
olive oil
white balsamic vinegar

Outtakes

We took a whopping 600 (!!!) photos today in the back fields trying to capture our annual family photo. The light was beautiful as the sun was setting and we had so much fun! Here are a couple of my favorites.

the best Thanksgiving ever!!!

It was a blessing for Ryan to be given beamtime yesterday because it was one of the most memorable days for the entire family. Gracie was so excited to see daddy's work. It was such a "magical" place. Emily was probably one of the youngest to be given a security pass, which she happily chewed on. And the collaborators from around the world hope he always gets beamtime on a holiday so his wife cooks for them again. The only leftover food is Gracie's cranberry sauce! "Maybe Christmas next year?"
There were SO MANY smiles that honestly...I wouldn't mind xoxo

Our Days

Our days are so sweet recently. We all seem to be well centered, happy and ourselves again. Life is full of ups and downs, ebs and flows, so I will appreciate this while it lasts. This calmness that I call normal.

Time to EAT: Gracie's favorite lunch is a pb&j, granny smith apples and cold milk. So simple but so good!

Time to READ: Emily slides on her belly to bring books across the house for us to read to her. She is going to be a book worm like her big sis.

Time to PLAY: And of course what is a day without a line of animals waiting for a ride? Emily loves to "dress-up" as much as her sis but instead of fairy wings or a crown, she prefers my bra. Just like her sis! (remember this?)

DIY :: Felt Hair Pins

We were able to make these simple hair pins in a couple of minutes (!!!) today using bobby pins, felt and embroidery floss. Grace was so grateful and enchanted with this that it may become a regular craft around here. You can never have too many hair accessories (especially while eating!)  and they would make lovely holiday gifts for friends. I may even make a couple for myself!
